Privacy policy

This policy describes the current mirroview iPhone and iPad release and this website.

Effective October 2, 2026. Last updated October 18, 2026.

Who to contact

mirroview is an independent iPhone and iPad app. For privacy questions, email mirroview@liljackson.org.

What the app does

The app supports local screen sharing between two iPhones or iPads running iOS or iPadOS 17 or newer. It uses authenticated local discovery and signaling. A reachable shared Wi-Fi network uses WebRTC video. An authenticated nearby video route is also available when device and system conditions permit. Connection quality, system support, and wireless conditions determine availability. Both people must confirm each session. The sender must also authorize screen capture through the iOS or iPadOS system interface. The app does not transmit audio.

Live video is sent to the connected viewer. We do not run an account service or an operator video server for the current release, and the app does not upload session video to us. A viewer can still save or externally photograph what appears on their device.

Permissions and local data

Short-lived invitations and connection data are used for a session. Depending on the iOS or iPadOS version (17 or later), the app may temporarily place an invitation and status files in a shared app container so its screen broadcast extension can start. The extension consumes the invitation file. The app does not use these files as a video archive.

Storage and diagnostics

The app does not create an account or save session photos and videos. It keeps bounded diagnostic events on the device, including app and iOS or iPadOS versions, device model, connection stages, numeric errors, and media counters. The records exclude invitation QR codes, keys, IP addresses, Wi-Fi names, full SDP/ICE, and media. A random identifier is used for each process launch; it is not a persistent device identifier. Logs rotate locally. You may export a ZIP through the system share sheet, and only the latest three exports are retained in the app cache. The app does not automatically upload diagnostics. Send an export to support only if you want us to review it. Deleting the app removes its local diagnostic files; files you exported elsewhere remain under your control.

Website and email

We do not add analytics, advertising, tracking pixels, or contact forms to these pages. Hosting and network providers may add security checks and process ordinary access data needed to serve and protect the pages. If you email us, you choose what to include. We and our email provider process your address and message to answer you and keep support correspondence. To ask about or request deletion of an email you sent, contact the same address.

Changes

We may update this policy when the app or site changes. The date above identifies the latest version.
